Another Great Day

It doesn't matter if it is 45 degrees and blowing 25mph, Everglades fishing has something to offer.  Today, Mona got into some nice keeper size black drum in the Everglades National Park.  We were fishing north of Everglades City in the Ten Thousand Islands and we caught some keeper mangrove snapper and gag grouper along with the black drum.  The fish were caught on jigs tipped with shrimp on the bottom of some deeper creek holes.  All fish were released.  We fished for a half day with very little water due to the northeast wind which blew the water out.  Mona and friends from yesterday, Judy and Barbara, are from Key Largo.  This Everglades fishing charter was happy.

Judy and Barbara into Everglades Fishing

Inspite of the cold front, 30mph wind, and rain, Judy and Barbara, Key Largo, got into some nice Everglades redfish and snook.  We were fishing north of Everglades City into the Ten Thousand Islands and caught several snook and reds on popping cork and shrimp tipped jigs.  Most of the fish were caught in the rivers and creeks.  Pictured above are some of the fish including a 24 inch redfish.  Everglades Fishing comes through again even in the harsh cold front.  This Everglades fishing guide was happy.

Ed's Red

No dought, Everglades fishing is never the same, only the fishing is always dependable. This is Ed and another 25 inch Everglades redfish. This fish was caught on a shrimp tipped jig and a popping cork. It was caught just north of Lostmans River on a dead low tide. Ed and friend Richard landed some nice trout and their bag limit of redfish. The smaller redfish measured 24 inches. For an Everglades fishing charter please call this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Snook Season Soon

Get Ready for Everglades snook fishing.  The season is about to open and you only have 2 months to keep them till they close them in May.  Everglades fishing for snook is like no other place in that you have so many choices of places and types of fishing.  Artificial, live bait, shrimp, cut bait (fresh ladyfish is snook candy) can be used in the backcountry, in the rivers, along mangrove shorelines, on the beaches, and later on the nearby wrecks and small reefs.  When using live bait be cautious when fishing the backcountry as those bays and creeks can have too much fresh water and your baits die.  Many Everglades fishing guides use artificials when fishing the backcountry due to the fresh water.  This Everglades fishing guide loves to fish artificials when the need arises and when called for.  This oversized Everglades snook was caught in Chokoloskee Bay in the Ten Thousand Islands using a gray jig.  There were no tears when this angler had to release his Everglades snook.  Please call me soon for an Everglades fishing charter as I am starting to book up fast.

Everglades fishing for redfish and trout

Todd and Dave, Ocala, Fl, caught some very nice everglades redfish and trout today.  They limited out on trout which averaged about 18 inches and 2 at 20 inches.  These fish were caught on a RipTide jig and soft plastic 3 inch gray shrimp.  Also, Dave caught a very respectable 26 inch redfish on a shrimp tipped jig and popping cork.  Father and son limited out on the trout.  All the fish were caught in the Everglades National Park north of Lostmans River.  Everglades fishing was good today and the weather was EXCELLENT.  The waters were a perfect green and turquoise color and the tides cooperated.  There were several Everglades fishing charters out today but few caught them as fast as Dave and Todd did.  This Everglades fishing guide was very happy today.

A Good Day on the Water

Well, today was a good day on the water. We managed to scrape up a few redfish inspite of the harsh cold front which blew and rained on us. In fact, it blew out all the water. The tide was out about 6 feet and stayed out. This is where "local knowledge" is needed to maneuver the boat in inches of water between oysters and rocks just to get out to my spots. Much of the backcountry is this way and I do not recommend anybody who is new to the area to venture out without the local knowledge. Everglades fishing for these Everglades redfish or snook is very challenging with these conditions and you can ruin your day or your boat if you hit rocks or oyster bars. Everglades tarpon fishing is extremely hard with these conditions and you may have better luck at the dock. A professional local Everglades fishing guide can even up the score and perhaps give you a chance at some Everglades snook or tarpon. A "tip", when you have conditions such as today get a bag of shrimp, tip some jigs and go catch some Everglades fishing. Everglades fishing is always an adventure. This Everglades fishing guide was happy to get out and catch some fish.

Everglades Fishing

Everglades fishing can be tough this time of year.  Trout can be great one day and non-existent the next.  Fortunately for Barb, Tampa, her first everglades redfish was for the taking.  The fish was released. A few fish were caught this half day and the tide never really came in good.  This Everglades fishing guide will see better days ahead.

Everglades Tarpon Fishing

Everglades fishing without Everglades tarpon is like fishing without water.  They are here!  Let's get em.  The tarpon will strike artificial lures willingly and with prejudice!  These fish are here early and in numbers.  They are here due to the unusually higher temperatures we have had this winter.  The waters are about 72 degrees and this triggers the tarpon to start migrating north.  Since the waters are a bit cooler north of here I feel these Everglades tarpon will be here for a while.  Please call this Everglades fishing guide to schedule an Everglades tarpon fishing trip.

Connie's Day for Everglades Fishing

Although the waters were muddy and the tides were messed up from 2 days of storms Connie and David, Minnesota, were able to catch some very nice redfish.  Pictured above at my dock is Connie with a very respectable 24 inch redfish.  David caught another 22 inch Everglades redfish and released a few more.  Storms muddy up the waters due to the high clay content of the bottom and the very shallow waters but switching tactics and locations paid dividends today.  Trout were few and far between as were the other species.  However, this Everglades fishing guides was very happy.  Please call soon if you wish for and Everglades Fishing Charter as I am booking up.

Lots of Tarpon

There were lots of Everglades tarpon this weekend on the outside beaches from the Shark River on North.  These fish must have migrated north due to warm weather.  This is about a month early.  We were fishing for trout on the grass flats and tarpon were there to greet us with a splash.  Our Everglades tarpon can be very finicky or very aggressive and I use all artificial lures to fish for them.  If you want to get in on the action early call this Everglades fishing guide for a charter.

Everglades Fishing

Mark, Jay, and Glen, Naples, Fl, got into these Everglades redfish. They came home with their limit of 3 very nice redfish. Everglades fishing was tough today but we managed to scrape up a few of these beauties. Jay, pictured above, got this 25 incher near Chatham River. The fish made for a dash under the boat but Jay angled him out and landed the fish. It was caught on a popping cork and a jig with shrimp. Way to go Jay. Lots of tarpon out there with this nice weather we are having.

Larry, Greg, and Jeff's Reds, etc.

Another day in paradise for Larry, Greg, and Jeff Everglades fishing at its finest.  It started out very slow due to the extremely low tides but when the water got up the fish started biting.  Larry and company started with trout and caught plenty but most were small.  They ended up with 4 keepers up to 22 inches.  We hit the beach and mangrove shorelines near Lostman's River and caught redfish up to 25 inches and black drum in the 5 pound range.  Only one snook was caught.  A limit of Everglades redfish was no problem.  It was a mixed bag today.  This Everglades fishing charter was a great success.

Sam and Ron with 2 nice Reds

Sam and Ron, Brooks Fishing Club, had a good half day of Everglades fishing today.  They boated 2 nice Everglades redfish on a jig and shrimp with a popping cork.  The fish measured 26 and 24 inches and were caught in an area near  Lostmans River.  The tide was low and I had to use the electric troll motor to get around.  It will be snook season soon and we will shift tactics to get them.  Everglades snook fishing can be quite a challenge on light tackle and these fish will get acrobatic in their fight.  When this doesn't work they try for the trees, motors, and under the boat.  This Everglades fishing guide will be ready.

Ed and a Red

Today was a hard day ( windy) of fishing but we managed to get some pretty nice trout and redfish.  The redfish in the photo measured 24 inches and was caught on a tipped jig.  We also caught keeper sheephead and black drum.  Everglades fishing was very good to us.  We also had some nice snook on and would have been keeper size if it were the season for them.  All of our fish came from south of Lostman's River.

Ron's Excellent Fishing Day

Well, Everglades fishing came through again, and again.  Ron, from Orlando, and friend Charlie, from Naples, caught Everglades redfish.  They got their limit of redfish.  They also got trout, sheephead, snook, and black drum, all keepers.  The snook were released.  Fish fry tonight.  Ron's red was nearly 27 inches and FAT. Today, fish hit on tipped jigs and ratlin raps.  This Everglades fishing guide was happy today.

A Snook Morning

Everglades fishing for snook can be good during the winter in the Everglades National Park.  This Everglades snook was caught in the late morning north of Everglades City and took a jig tipped with shrimp.  A few more were caught and all were release due to closed season.  More and more of my anglers are releasing all fish during the open season.   This Everglades fishing guide is happy to release keeper fish.

Nice Redfish

Today Susan from Orlando was fishing with me and landed this nice 25 inch Everglades redfish.  Susan caught it on a tipped jig with a popping cork.  This fish got under the boat 3 times but Susan knew what to do and landed it.  These fish were in less than a foot of water and you could almost see them tailing.  Everglades fishing was good today.  We caught plenty of nice keeper size trout.  All fish were released.   For a memorable Everglades fishing charters call me as I am booking up.
