Redfish and Snook for Everglades Fishing

Well, it's like a broken record. You go out, get some bait, catch your limit of some really nice redfish, all by 9am. Then, you go snook fishing for the rest of the day. Everglades fishing style. Tom, Palm Beach went home with some redfish dinners. All were caught with cut ladyfish.

Today, we did just that. Caught some snook, had some tug of wars with some really big sharks, and came back to my dock. The snook were caught with Storm lures. One of the sharks must have measured about 8 feet. Everglades fishing style.

You may be able to find some small ones up to about 15 to 20 pounds in the rivers and small creeks near Everglades City. An Everglades fishing charters will net you some good fish.

Everglades Tarpon Fishing

We fished hard for tarpon. There were many in the creeks near Shark River. Plug casting all day long and few were feeding. Plastic was not on the menu. However, we had several strikes. Tomorrow I may try some live bait at the mouths of those creeks. The tarpon should be there.

Everglades Tarpon

A very good everglades tarpon fishing trip today.  All three anglers were 17 years old and all were into tarpon.  Not 40, 50 or 60 pounders, but, 100 up to 125 pounders.  The largest tarpon caught was estimated at about 125 and was landed in about 30 minutes.  An excellent experience for a teenager.  All were from Michigan.  Only one tarpon was caught today, but, 4 were jumped, and I am embarrassed to say that I lost count on the number of strikes and rises.  Artificial lures rule!

Snook!

Everglades fishing is mighty fine.  Snook season is open but the water temps are too low.  However, certain areas will produce keeper snook and this is all temperature and tide dependant.  I like dark bottoms and moving water to produce fish.  I will catch snook in the middle of dark bottom shallow bays some small and some large.   Any lure will work as long as it is a jig or shallow running crank bait.  Everglades fishing is excellent.  I love it.

Everglades fishing for Trout

At 57 degrees our waters where too cold for most fish.  However, Dennis and company, Florida and Georgia, managed to get some nice trout.  These fish had nothing in their stomachs.  This is as tough as it gets for everglades fishing.  With air temperatures warming up our waters will warm up this week and those hybernating fish will be extremely hungry!

Everglades Fishing Now

Now is the time to set a date to go everglades fishing for redfish, tarpon, snook, and trout.  An everglades fishing charter will give you the opportunity to sample some of the finest and most pristine fishing America has to offer.  This everglades fishing guide can take you to some of the more remote areas of the Everglades National Park which has little fishing pressure and can offer you some of the best everglades fishing.  Set your site for March and April if you want to keep a snook for the dinner table.  If you would like to get one of those oversize everglades snook then make a date with this everglades fishing guide for May or June.  This is the spawning season and those large snook congregate along the beaches and river mouths to eat and spawn.

For those everglades tarpon, then book a date with this everglades fishing guide for April or May.  This is when these fish migrate in numbers and can be found in rivers, creeks and backcountry bays.  Light tackle fishing for 100lbs and up in a small creek can be most challenging even for the best angler.  However, you must have the right tides and moon phases to provide you with the best opportunity to jump or catch these bruisers.

Redfish can be found most of the year and now is a good time to get one.  Everglades fishing style,  Shrimp, jig, and popping cork!  Nice keeper size can be found in certain remote locations.  Large oversize reds will be here in numbers during the late summer and early fall of the year.

If you are looking for great trout action then book a trip with this everglades fishing guide now.  Limits are caught every day.  These fish know what everglades fishing is and will readily take an artificial shrimp on a jig and popping cork, or just plane jigging near the bottom.  Now, most grass flats hold quantities of trout from Indian Key all the way to the Shark River and I have fished and caught nice trout on every one of them.  Everglades fishing is great!
