Reds and Snook

It was a great everglades fishing day just ahead of Hurricane Gustav.  Dennis, Georgia, with Phil and son Kip, Ft. Myers, caught some very nice reds and snook.  The largest red was 28 inches and was released along with the 28 inch snook.  This everglades charter went home with their limit large redfish.  See photos.

Fay's Impact on Everglades Fishing

Lots of fresh water!  Dark water everywhere.  Snook fishing is good though.  The Ten Thousand Islands produced some good numbers the past few days.  Redfish are on the outside islands and if the new hurricane will leave us alone those large redfish will stay with us for the next 2 months.  They have been caught on fresh live shrimp.  Trout are hard to come by as the flats are too hot.  However, you may pick up some ladyfish for bait while fishing for trout.

Everglades Redfish

Today was a slow morning.  We started trout fishing and after 7 different grass flats we had no trout.  Plan B, however, managed to "drum" up some nice redfish for Richard and company, Ft. Myers.  The reds were caught on shrimp and cut ladyfish.  Company did hook into some very respectable snook and reds.  A nice everglades fishing trip.
