Snook, Reds, etc.

For the past 3 days, Jim and company, MN, has been busy reeling in slot reds, snook, and trout. The snook were released due to temporary closure. The largest slot red was 27 inches. Pictured is a nice slot snook caught near Chatham River. The fish hit a jig tipped with shrimp.

A good everglades fishing day.

Everglades Tarpon

There are lots of tarpon around and JD and dad, Dave, Illinois, found some. Pictured is about an 80 pounder which took a musky lure. Bad photo but I was in a hurry to get the tarpon revived and set free. It was caught in one of many small creeks connected to the Shark River. They jumped 10 tarpon and caught two today.

Everglades fishing is fun.

Snook and Reds

Trout are good, sheephead are great, but snook and reds are excellent. Today, Francis, Garland, Ft. Lauderdale, and Pat, Boston (all have been fishing with me for 15 years) got into some nice snook and reds. Some of the reds were too big to stop and headed for China. The largest snook was 34 inches and was released and the largest red we kept was 24 inches. A nice everglades fishing day.

A Trout Day

Hugo, Bartow, took a half day off today to catch some 19 inch trout. He got his limit on Riptide jigs. The fish were caught near the Huston River on a grass flat. Very windy conditions did not stop the fish from biting.

A good everglades fishing day.

Great Redfishing

Robert, Arizona, caught some nice trout, snook, and very nice upper slot limit redfish today. Getting the limit was no problem. The largest snook was in the slot but due to a temporary closure the fish was released. This equates to the "swamp slam" (redfish, trout, and snook).

Great everglades fishing.

Trout, Redfish, Sheephead, Drum

Mark and Jay, So. Africa, got plenty of trout today. Most were small but some nice keepers. In addition they got some redfish, sheephead, and black drum. The trout were caught on RipTide jigs and the rest on shrimp. Saw some rather large tarpon on the grass flats. We fished from Chatham all the way to Harney River today. Beautiful clear green waters on the flats.

Everglades fishing again.

Trout and Tarpon

There are plenty of trout, big ones, on the grass flats to enjoy now. The waters have warmed up to 69 degrees and the tarpon started showing up, also big ones. Mike and family caught some nice trout today on the grass flats near Pavilion. Most were in the 17 to 20 inch range. Some sheephead still around in the river mouths.

Nice everglades fishing day.
