Charlie and Bob, Minnesota, decided to celebrate this 2009 New Years day with an Everglades fishing trip. They caught some nice keeper trout which made it home since it is the first day of trout season. Also, they caught keeper snapper and redfish, all near Big Lostmans and Rogers Bay. A good backcountry fishing day.

Reds and Drum
Rod and sons, Sarasota, managed to get some nice black drum and their limit of reds. Also, 12 keeper reds were released up to 24 inches, and, more black drum. Small snook also participated. We fished south of Lostmans River.
Everglades fishing during the winter is a day to day event, always excellent.

Everglades Fishing Season
Speckled trout will open up on January 1st so if this is your "bag" call for a date.
Snook will open up on March 1st and tarpon season is just around the corner. I have some of my tarpon tides booked but still have some openings in April and May. Everglades tarpon start showing up around mid to late March and will stay till the rainy season which start in June. I have caught them in numbers till July.

Cold Front Fishing
Richard's redfish was 1/64 of an inch of release. Also, Jeremy's 26 inch redfish was a fine catch as well. Thuy, not pictured, caught grouper, snapper, redfish, and other species while on this trip. This everglades fishing trip was cut to a half day as the approaching cold front had winds of 25 knots and we made it back to the dock with most of us dry.
