Well, today was a good day on the water. We managed to scrape up a few redfish inspite of the harsh cold front which blew and rained on us. In fact, it blew out all the water. The tide was out about 6 feet and stayed out. This is where "local knowledge" is needed to maneuver the boat in inches of water between oysters and rocks just to get out to my spots. Much of the backcountry is this way and I do not recommend anybody who is new to the area to venture out without the local knowledge. Everglades fishing for these Everglades redfish or snook is very challenging with these conditions and you can ruin your day or your boat if you hit rocks or oyster bars. Everglades tarpon fishing is extremely hard with these conditions and you may have better luck at the dock. A professional local Everglades fishing guide can even up the score and perhaps give you a chance at some Everglades snook or tarpon. A "tip", when you have conditions such as today get a bag of shrimp, tip some jigs and go catch some Everglades fishing. Everglades fishing is always an adventure. This Everglades fishing guide was happy to get out and catch some fish.
