Get Ready for Everglades snook fishing. The season is about to open and you only have 2 months to keep them till they close them in May. Everglades fishing for snook is like no other place in that you have so many choices of places and types of fishing. Artificial, live bait, shrimp, cut bait (fresh ladyfish is snook candy) can be used in the backcountry, in the rivers, along mangrove shorelines, on the beaches, and later on the nearby wrecks and small reefs. When using live bait be cautious when fishing the backcountry as those bays and creeks can have too much fresh water and your baits die. Many Everglades fishing guides use artificials when fishing the backcountry due to the fresh water. This Everglades fishing guide loves to fish artificials when the need arises and when called for. This oversized Everglades snook was caught in Chokoloskee Bay in the Ten Thousand Islands using a gray jig. There were no tears when this angler had to release his Everglades snook. Please call me soon for an Everglades fishing charter as I am starting to book up fast.
