Great Redfishing

Robert, Arizona, caught some nice trout, snook, and very nice upper slot limit redfish today. Getting the limit was no problem. The largest snook was in the slot but due to a temporary closure the fish was released. This equates to the "swamp slam" (redfish, trout, and snook).

Great everglades fishing.

Trout, Redfish, Sheephead, Drum

Mark and Jay, So. Africa, got plenty of trout today. Most were small but some nice keepers. In addition they got some redfish, sheephead, and black drum. The trout were caught on RipTide jigs and the rest on shrimp. Saw some rather large tarpon on the grass flats. We fished from Chatham all the way to Harney River today. Beautiful clear green waters on the flats.

Everglades fishing again.

Everglades Fishing for Trout

There was no shortage of trout today. Tom and company, Boca Raton, got their limit of trout today. Sixteen nice keepers from 17 to 20 inches. Later some nice reds were caught. A calm, clear, green clear water day with temps in the low seventies. Everglades fishing again.

Trout and Tarpon

There are plenty of trout, big ones, on the grass flats to enjoy now. The waters have warmed up to 69 degrees and the tarpon started showing up, also big ones. Mike and family caught some nice trout today on the grass flats near Pavilion. Most were in the 17 to 20 inch range. Some sheephead still around in the river mouths.

Nice everglades fishing day.

All Fish are Getting Active

Vance and dad, Odell, from Labelle, got a taste of some fine everglades fishing. They caught several keeper size redfish, trout, black drum, and sheephead today. All of the species were caught near Lostman's River and they were using shrimp and jig and rubber jigs. As the waters warm up the fishing will improve dramatically. This winter has proved to be a very good fishing season but spring will be even better. Tarpon will be showing up soon and hopefully the snook will come out of the woodwork.

Redfish Today

Another everglades fishing trip proved to be successful. The redfish, however, were too big or too small. Not a bad problem to have. Pictured above is a photo of a 28 inch redfish caught in Houston River.
