All Fish are Getting Active

Vance and dad, Odell, from Labelle, got a taste of some fine everglades fishing. They caught several keeper size redfish, trout, black drum, and sheephead today. All of the species were caught near Lostman's River and they were using shrimp and jig and rubber jigs. As the waters warm up the fishing will improve dramatically. This winter has proved to be a very good fishing season but spring will be even better. Tarpon will be showing up soon and hopefully the snook will come out of the woodwork.

Redfish Today

Another everglades fishing trip proved to be successful. The redfish, however, were too big or too small. Not a bad problem to have. Pictured above is a photo of a 28 inch redfish caught in Houston River.

Everglades Fishing

A very tough everglades fishing day today in the 10,000 Islands but we managed to catch nice keeper trout and redfish. These fish were caught on jig and shrimp. Temp did not go over 61 degrees.

Great Everglades Fishing

Jamie and company, NC, caught many fish today including a 9 pound snook. Other species included redfish, trout, sheephead, and black drum. Most were keeper size but these anglers decided to release all fish. The fish were caught on jig and shrimp and jig and Rip Tide rubber tails. We fished near Lostmans River.

A great everglades fishing day.

Redfish and Sheephead

Something different today, sheephead. Same old thing, but, these tasty fish are fun to catch for young and older. Today, Ted, 2 sons, and brother caught some nice sheephead. The big redfish measured 22 inches. The fish were caught near Huston River and were all released. These fish were caught on shrimp and jig on the bottom.

A good everglades fishing day.

Sheephead, Redfish, and Black Drum

Dave and company, Indiana, got action on jig and shrimp today. They caught some nice sheephead, redfish, and black drum. Most were small but some came back to the dock to meet the "Hushpuppies". Fishing was tough but we managed to get them everglades fishing style. Most of the fish were caught near Chatham River.

Everglades Fishing Repeat

It has been the same thing every day this week. Sheephead, redfish, trout, black drum. Very repetitive. Go to a grass flat, catch some trout, then, the river, catch reds, drum, sheephead and go home. Trout on RipTide jigs and the rest on shrimp and jig. Also, some nice keeper mangrove snapper in the backcountry rock holes. We have also caught some small snook too. Those are the very hardy and must be handled with care.
