Everglades Fishing

Kelly and company, uncle and grandpaw, Naples, got some nice trout (17 to 18 inches) today. Kelly (13) also caught some nice black drum and redfish (26"). Beat that! Sheephead too!

Everglades fishing is good.

Lots of Trout

Scott and company got lots of trout today. I estimate that they caught 57 trout and most were small but they went home with 12 keeper trout and one big black drum (redfish family, excellent eating). We also caught more drum and small reds, Lostmans River. Good everglades fishing today.

Nice Trout Today

We started the half day to the north of Everglades City in the Ten Thousand Islands, Everglades National Park, with temperatures in the low 50's but warmed up quickly with clear skys, a bit breezy. Rick and Teresa, Minnesota, caught some keeper size sea trout and silver trout up to about 18 inches. The fish were caught on gray, rootbeer, and electric chicken RipTide jigs. We used shrimp but we quickly changed to jigs when the fish turned on.

A good everglades fishing day.

Ten Thousand Islands Redfish

Brooks, Plantation, caught some nice reds today in the Ten Thousand Islands. These fish were caught on shrimp, popping cork, and jig. He also caught keeper snapper and some small grouper in the rock holes.

A good everglades fishing morning.

Winter Everglades Fishing

Kyle and company, Tampa, got into many speckled and silver trout today. They were fishing with shrimp but changed to plastic and jig when they had 3 on at the time. There were many small ones but the fish they took home ranged in size from 17 to 22 inches. Lots of fog all day but that did not stop us even though the GPS got fried early in the trip. We were fishing the flats near Lostmans River. They returned back to the Everglades Rod and Gun Lodge with many fish dinners.

A good everglades fishing day.

Typical Winter Fishing

Everglades fishing for Mike and family, Marco Island, was good today. They caught sheephead, black drum, redfish, snook, and trout. The snook and trout were catch and release. They caught most of the fish in Huston and Chatham Rivers on shrimp.
