Everglades Fishing Grand Slam

Not pictured above is the trout but this Everglades fishing charters was too busy catching snook and reds to take pictures of the trout. Everglades tarpon came through today with a nice 110 lbs. tarpon. Pictured above is the tarpon making for a move to the mangroves. Unfortunately the camera messed up and we lost the best pictures. This Everglades fishing charter had numerous tarpon strikes and I lost count after about 8. All were big tarpon some exceeding way above 100lbs. No matter, pictured above is a nice 34 inch everglades snook caught by Mike, from Chicago, with son Brian pictured with a nice 24 inch redfish. This Everglades fishing charter caught their limit of take home reds. The snook were too big or too small. An everglades grand slam consists of a snook, tarpon, redfish, and trout and we got em. What a day. The wind was howling at 25 knots but fortunately it was an east wind. We were 45 miles south of Everglades City in the backcountry and will go again tomorrow. The tarpon was caught on lures and the rest were caught on cut ladyfish and shrimp. Please call this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Snook Fishing

Steve, Naples, and Bill, Denver, got into some over the slot limit Everglades snook.  One was landed measuring 36 inches and was caught on cut ladyfish.  Everglades fishing was good today.  Several snook were broke off due to "submerged objects".  This Everglades fishing charter was happy.  They also caught some nice trout and pompano.  The tides were bad but the weather was beautiful and the waters were calm and clean.  Please call this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Trout

Today was an Everglades fishing day but for trout.  We caught 35 keepers and kept the larger ones for a nice bag limit.  Pictured above is Jim, North Carolina, with a nice 25 inch Everglades trout.  All of the fish were caught on the grass flats north of Lostmans River.  This Everglades fishing charter was pleased to catch these fish and will have a fine fish fry tonight.   Jim was accompanied by son Donovan, age 7 (he caught half the fish), and wife Sandy.  Please call this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Snook

Everglades fishing for snook was fun on artificial lures. Brenda and Glen, New York, caught 37 Everglades snook on the 17MR Mirro Lures and red with gray shrimp Rip Tide jigs. All of the fish were caught in the Everglades backcountry from Chokoloskee Bay to Pumpkin Bay. This was a fishing trip but a lot of sightseeing was done. We ended up coming out of Fakahatchee Pass and down the coast. We stopped off on the grass flats and caught 18 trout. Most were small and measured from 16 inches all the way to 23 inches. A picture of the one that got away, an Everglades tarpon. What a day. This Everglades fishing charter was happy. Please call this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Tarpon Fishing

Today was just perfect for tarpon fishing.  Calm seas but abit cool.  We traveled 45 miles south and into the creeks and rivers hunting for those Everglades tarpon.  Everglades fishing for tarpon is very different in that it is a hunting game and I never get tired of it.  We found tarpon and they were few of them due to the cooler waters (65 degrees).  Bill, Christina, and Wendy, Bonita Springs,  managed to jump 3 tarpon.  No pictures but lots of "tails" to tell.  This Everglades Fishing Charter was happy.  Please call this Everglades fishing guide.
Thanks,

Plan for Everglades Tarpon Now

Everglades fishing for tarpon is an experience which you will never forget.  It's exciting when you hook a 100lb.+ Everglades tarpon in a creek a little wider than my Action Craft.  You are fighting in a creek which may be just 3 or 4 feet deep and the tarpon has only one place to go and that is up.  Light spinning or baitcasting tackle and artificial lures evens up the score and it is just you and the tarpon battling it out.  No 3/0 or 4/0 reels and boat rods!  These fish are here and waiting for you now.  For an Everglades fishing charter please make your reservations for this Everglades fishing guide.

Everglades Fishing

What a difference a day can make.  Last night was the full moon and today the tide was a foot lower at low tide way in the backcountry.  Everglades fishing is never the same.  Those Everglades snook were hard to come by and Brian and Tino, Ft. Lauderdale, had to work hard at catching fish.  They managed to catch 5 out of slot limit snook.  Later we traveled to the outside flats near Chatham River and managed to scrape up a limit of trout.  This Everglades fishing charters worked hard today.  Call this Everglades fishing guide.
Thanks.

Everglades Fishing for Snook

Today we caught 25 snook all out of the slot limit. They were either too big or too small. The slot limit is from 28" to 33". All else are catch and release. Bryce and sons Bryce Jr. and Pierce were busy boys today. The fish were all caught deep in the backcountry in some remote creeks and we were using Mirro Lure 17MR's. The wind was blowing hard and it was an east wind which made for a very low tide. This Everglades fishing charters was happy today. Please call this Everglades fishing guide. Oh yea, Pierce got his first redfish.

Everglades Snook

Today was as tough as it gets with a 20 knot southwest wind and low tide.  Everglades fishing came through with 15 of these beauties.   All in the backcountry about 40 miles south of Everglades City.  If you can't stand the heat get out of the flats boat.  It was tough going with a 3 ft. chop and barely enough water for the prop, but, it was enough for me.  Everglades fishing is just wonderful.  This Everglades fishing charter was happy.  Pictured above is Vinnie with a 26 inch backcountry Everglades snook.  Vinnie most of his fish on a 17MR Mirro Lure.  For a local Everglades fishing guide please call.

Everglades Fishing for Snook

This time of year these Everglades snook can be difficult.  They are on the outside shorelines, rivers, creeks, and backcountry bays.  They are scattered from backcountry to outside shorelines and will be moving on the outside soon.  Finding them should not be a problem but finding an abundance of them is.  At any one place you may catch 10 snook but most are small.  Finding the bigger Everglades snook is a challenge if you fish the Everglades only a few times a year.  For those who can plug cast well you can cast many shorelines in one day and perhaps hook up onto a bigger Everglade snook.  For those who fish a few times per year this Everglades fishing guides makes it easier by scrounging up some ladyfish or mullet, cutting them up and "chunking" them on the bottom.  Eventually, you should hookup.  Everglades fishing changes each day due to weather, tide, temperature, barometric pressure, and wind.  For an Everglades Fishing Charters call me.

Everglades Snook Today

Everglades fishing is improving.  Today, Richard and Ginger, Tampa,  got into some entertaining Everglades snook fishing.  They busted one very large snook off when it decided to head north and never looked back.  The waters were calm and green.  The wind was 5mph most of the day and the temperature was around 78 degrees which made for a very enjoyable day here in the Everglades.  Oh yea, we also got into some very nice trout.  This everglades fishing charter was happy.  Call and book a trip before this Everglades fishing guide is all booked up.

Thanks,
Capt. Tony

Everglades fishing for Trout

Everglades fishing was extremely slow today due to the slow tide.  It moved only about 2 feet.  Monty and Tom, Michigan, managed to scrape a few of these fine eating trout from the grass flats near Pavilion.  Pictured above is Tom with his supper and a fine Cohiba.  The waters were smooth and green and the temperature perfect but the fishing was slow.  Tomorrow is another day and this Everglades fishing guide will go for it.  This Everglades fishing charters will come through.

Everglades Tarpon

This morning we fished for Everglades tarpon and jumped 4 fish.  Two were small in the 50 to 60 lbs. class and the other 2 were on the large size in the 120 plus lbs size.  Ed and David, Naples, were fishing with artificial crank baits on spinning outfits.  We were fishing small creeks south of Lostmans River.  The temperature was a little cooler than I like for Everglades tarpon but they were there.  Everglades fishing for tarpon is difficult this time of year due to the cold fronts but from mid March to early April the fishing greatly improves due to the warming waters.  We had some fish nearly run into the boat in some of the tight creeks.  There are few Everglades fishing guides who fish this way and some will not take a gamble due to the distance but this Everglades fishing guide will since most of the time it is very rewarding.  It's all about the thrill of it.  Everglades fishing for tarpon with this Everglades fishing charter is always an adventure.

Redfish and Trout

A half day afternoon of Everglades fishing proved to be fruitful for Sam and son Jim, Bonita Springs.  Plenty of trout and some nice redfish were caught using Rip Tide jigs today.  The trout were caught on the grass flats near Chatham River.  The redfish were caught on oysters in the mangroves.  Pictured about is Jim with a 22 inch redfish.  Some fine groceries and eating.  Break out the skillet.  This Everglades fishing guide was happy today.

Trout

We are still feeling the effects from last week's blow but the waters are clearing up and fishing has greatly improved with the cleaner waters.  Today, Gene and Anna from South Bend, Ind. caught their limit of some nice trout.  Everglades fishing was good today and the weather cooperated.  We had some bad weather in Everglades City but 20 miles south the weather was good.  There are some Everglades snook in the backcountry if you are willing to cast with artificial lures.  Ratlin rouges and gray jigs worked good.    There are also keeper sized mangrove snappers there and can be caught on a piece of shrimp.  Everglades fishing will be better and better from now on.  This Everglades fishing charters was happy.

Everglades Fishing

No Everglades fishing today. The wind is howling and the rain is here and there. This Everglades fishing guide will stay in port and get ready for tomorrow. Time to change lines, put leaders and hooks on and WD40 everything. Yesterday was extremely slow but some fish were caught in the backcountry. We scraped together 8 Everglades snook, 9 redfish and some small trout. The 35mph winds blew the tides in and made muddy waters. This Everglades fishing charters had a hard day.

Hooksets are Important

For those who haven't experienced a hard fighting Everglades snook now is the time to get one.  And, if you are going to get one hooksets are important.  Everglades fishing requires the proper hookset in order to fight and catch those fish.  A "bass" hookset is where you set the hook so hard that you literally rip the lips off of an everglades snook or redfish.  And, if you do that to a trout you get the head only.  Everglades fishing requires concentration and when that fish strikes a solid hookset is important.  When the fish strikes set the hook as if you are popping a cork.  That is all it takes.  For a large everglades tarpon it requires some finess.  When the tarpon strikes and is in the water "jab" the fish 4 or 5 times and the fish will jump, bow to the fish, and when it returns to the water "jab" it again and you should have a hookset.  For other species one hookset is usually enough.  When I am on an Everglades fishing charter I provide some instructions to those that need it and those that think they don't.  Being an Everglades fishing guide requires me to also be an instructor as well as a fisherman.   Pictured above is a tarpon we caught today while on the grassflats.  The fish was caught with a Rip Tide gray smokey shrimptail.  The hookset was extremely important and was done correctly.  Tom, ILL.,  used a baitcaster spooled with 15lb mono.  The fish was estimated at 75lbs.

Everglades Snook Fishing

Today was a tough day for everglades fishing.  Snook were hard to find but there were some in the backcountry.  Canon Bay and Alligator Bay were home to some well over 30 inches and there was one in Alligator Bay that would have reached 40 inches if my party would have landed him.  Lots of bull sharks back there.  We also fished the Rabbit Key grasses later this afternoon and found some keeper snook on the out islands.  This everglades fishing guide earned his pay today.

Trout

An east wind blowing steadily at 20 knots, low tide waters (even at high tide), and 4 novice anglers proved to be a challenge for this Everglades fishing guide.  But, the trout cooperated today at just a few choice locations.  Pictured above are two trout, one at 21 inches, and the other at 24 inches were caught by Phil, Quincy, ILL., on a white 1/4 oz. buck tail jig with pink head.  These fish were caught on the grass flats, very near shore by Lostmans River.  Everglades fishing was challenging today but for Phil and company trout was the ticket.  It made for a happy Everglades fishing charters.

Everglades Fishing for Trout Today

Kevin, Christy, Jimmy, and Brian, teenagers from Miami, caught trout today.  They came home with a nice mess of trout from the grass flats of the Everglades National Park.  The fish were caught using a red 1/4 ounce jig and a gray or new penny Rip Tide soft plastic tail.  Although it was the first day of snook season 4 teen anglers in a 20 ft. flats boat would be difficult for them and trout was fine.  This Everglades fishing charter was a success.
